Payette Land Trust is excited to announce the conservation of a 45-acre agricultural property in Valley County, located just south of the City of McCall and visible from Highway 55. This conservation effort represents a crucial step in preserving the region’s agricultural heritage, especially in an area experiencing rapid development.
The property, one of the few remaining undeveloped parcels in the area, is bordered by three commercial properties and four subdivisions. The landowners made the decision to place the property into a conservation easement out of a strong commitment to conserving the open space and agricultural identity of the region.
By protecting this land, PLT is safeguarding one of the last open spaces in the increasingly developed region. The land, historically used for agricultural purposes, will continue to be grazed under this conservation agreement. The easement prohibits any future non-agricultural development that could disrupt the land’s productivity, riparian and wetland ecosystems, and wildlife movement.
With this addition, PLT continues its ongoing work to protect Valley County’s agricultural land, open spaces, and natural habitats for the benefit of current and future generations. To date, PLT has conserved 3,975 acres across Adams, Idaho, Valley, and Washington Counties.
We know this takes hard work and dedication by the PLT, and thoughtful efforts by the land owner.
Thank you, all.

This is so exciting. We live nearby and this parcel provides habitat for a ton of wildlife. It will be an amazing little oasis amid the onslaught of metal buildings that County Commissioners keep approving for this area. HUGE thanks to the landowner and PLT for making this happen. It will preserve habitat and a sliver of scenery on what is supposed to be the Payette River Scenic Byway (Hwy 55).
