Last evening a group of poets and poetry lovers gathered for the first McCall Poetry Crawl in celebration of Poetry Month. The crawl started at McCall Public Library, moved to Huckleberry Garden, and then on to Hotel McCall. Three poets read at each location, and Payette Land Trust was invited to introduce CMarie Furhman, who read from Writing the Land: Currents, a recently released book pairing poets and land trusts. CMarie shared her process in writing for this project, especially her visual poems. She read from her black out (redacted) press release poem for the South Fork Ranch and her map poem for the Huffman property.

Another of CMarie’s poems included in Writing the Land Currents is “These Flowers, This River (Perhaps I Could Stay),” which you can listen to her read in the video below.
